SagaRune is an educational guide to Norse mythology and runes built around a simple promise: tell you what the surviving evidence says, tell you when scholars must reconstruct or debate something, and keep modern spiritual interpretation clearly labeled.
Primary sources come first
Profiles and stories are grounded in the medieval textual record and material evidence where relevant. Core texts include the Poetic Edda, Snorri Sturluson’s Prose Edda, skaldic poetry, saga material, and runic inscriptions.
Sources are not interchangeable
The Eddas were written down in medieval Iceland, and Snorri’s organized mythological system is not automatically a transparent window into Viking-Age belief. SagaRune notes important differences between sources instead of smoothing them into one tidy version.
Runes: writing before divination
The Elder Futhark is presented first as a historical writing system. Rune names may be reconstructed from later related traditions, and modern divinatory meanings are placed in a separate Modern Reflection section rather than presented as ancient fact.
Modern practice has its own place
Modern Norse Paganism and personal spiritual reflection can be meaningful without needing to be mislabeled as ancient evidence. When SagaRune discusses modern interpretations, it says so plainly.
